INAF25 - Professional Program

Why Masterclasses?

When reimagining this year’s INAF, we asked ourselves a simple question: What do we love most when attending festivals? The answer was clear—masterclasses.

As performers ourselves, we know that the thrill of a festival isn’t just about watching great shows—it’s about learning something new, challenging our perspectives, and evolving as artists. It’s about those moments of discovery that shake up the way we think about our craft.

That’s why this edition of INAF offers fewer, but truly outstanding performances—and more opportunities for deep artistic exploration through masterclasses. Because this festival is, first and foremost, for you—the performer, director, choreographer, set designer, playwright, dramaturg (and what not!) working in Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA). Of course, we care deeply about the kids—but this space is dedicated to you, the professionals shaping the future of TYA.

So, whether you want to refine your technique, explore new methods, or simply step outside your creative comfort zone, our masterclasses are designed to challenge, inspire, and shake things up.

Because theatre never stands still—and neither should we.

Why Humor?

Because kids are funny—and theatre for them should be too! This year, INAF dives headfirst into the power of humor in TYA—not just as entertainment, but as a tool for connection, rebellion, and artistic innovation. Laughter breaks barriers, challenges norms, and reminds us all (kids and adults alike) not to take ourselves too seriously.

That’s why our performances and masterclasses this year explore humor in all its glorious forms—physical comedy, improvisation, absurdity, and the unexpected twists that make theatre truly alive. Whether it’s the dynamic movement ofDon Gnu (DK), the playful energy of Tubo (SW), or the sharp-witted spontaneity of Det Andre Teatret (NO), this festival is all about finding the funny—and understanding why it matters.

But humor isn’t just about getting laughs—it’s also a way to tackle big topics. In his performance "Latin America", comedian Adrián Minkowicz uses sharp wit to explore themes of colonization and identity, and his workshop dives into how humor can help us approach serious subjects in bold new ways.

Alongside our masterclasses, INAF will also offer shorter workshops, seminars, and panel discussions, giving you even more opportunities to learn, reflect, and exchange ideas.

So, get ready to laugh, learn, and push the boundaries of what humor can do in TYA. Expect an exchange of ideas, unexpected discoveries, and a serious lack of seriousness—because let’s face it, the best artistic breakthroughs usually start with play. So come ready to experiment, take risks, and have way too much fun in the name of innovation.

This is not your average theatre workshop. Are you in?

Please note that all times and venues are subject to change.
