THIS PERFORMANCE ON FRIDAY 9th WILL BE IN NORWEGIAN.
Is your Barbie doll a secret spy? Is your skipping rope a dangerous snake? Can your shovel help a lonely boy? The performance “The Toys Strike Back” consists of improvised stories based on the toys the children in the audience bring. The stories change from time to time. An inclusive and engaging theater where children can be inspired to create their own stories. Bring a toy from home and come see, maybe you will discover something about the toy you didn't already know!
“The Toys Strike Back!” has toured for thousands of Norwegian children and has played at a number of international festivals and theater stages in recent years.

Det Andre Teatret (The Second Theatre) is known for improvising stories based on the audience's ideas. It's Norways first and largest improvised theatre. The theatre is known for its varied repertoire of scripted and improvised performances for all ages. They perform over 350 performances each year on their own performance spaces and auditoriums in Oslo and tour extensively in schools, cultural centres and international festivals all over the world.
The style and hallmark of the Det Andre Teatret is transformation, close storytelling told in dialogue with the audience and play with theatrical means. This interactive and playful approach fits perfectly with the festivals's focus on humour, while also showing how performing arts can allow young audiences to actively participate and use their own imagination.
---------------
This performance is part of the International Norwegian ASSITEJ Festival titled "Are You Kidding Me?" exploring humor in performing arts for young audiences. The festival is arranged by ASSITEJ Norway in collaboration with Riksteatret between 6-10th of May 2025.
