Humor for babies? Is that a thing?
Or do you just jangle keys and say peek-a-boo?
What can humor babies look like in the context of performing arts?
In this seminar we will be talking about how humor for babies. Obviously.
We have a lot of questions about humor and babies. Do they have ny humor? Is it possible to pinpoint what babies find funny? What should performing artists think about if they are to make funny shows for babies?
We’re putting together a panel of artists and producers who have experience with creating performances for babies and attempt to answer some of these questions!

Karstein Solli is a stage artist, choreographer and Assistant professor in acting, drama and theater communication. Since 1987 he has been producing solo performances and had large productions under his direction. Solli is currently a lecturer at the College University for dance and Choreography in Oslo. From 2009 Solli has been the Artistic Leader of Seanse, Center for art production, at the Volda University College. He graduated from his education as a preschool teacher in 1979 and has mime and theater education from Ecole Jaques Lecoq in Paris, Desmond Jones School of Mime, London and the Mime Department at the State Theater School in Amsterdam (1982-86) Since 1997 Solli is a regular receiver of the Norwegian State Income for Artists. His artistic work has since 2005 also included several performances made for the youngest children inside 0-6 years old.
Øystein Elle is a Norwegian performing artist, musician and composer and works as an associate professor of music and performing arts at Østfold University College. Educated at Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten, Utrecht in the Netherlands (Master of Arts) and the Music Conservatory at the University of Agder (Bachelor of Arts). He is the artistic director of the production Rock me Baby, together with Karstein Solli. Øystein has a doctorate in performing arts with interdisciplinary composition as his speciality.
Nils Christian Fossdal is a singer, performing artist, composer and educator with extensive experience in the arts for the very young. He directs the Elephant Theatre in Stavanger – a professional, private and non-profit theatre dedicated to art encounters for children between 0 and 5 years old – and is part of the company Dybwikdans, which tours nationally and internationally with performances for the youngest. Nils Christian is an associate professor of music at the University of Stavanger and a committed communicator of song and music in kindergartens and schools.
